Project:
bieMedia Video Players
bieMedia came to Rapture In Venice looking to break away from writing custom video players for their clients and instead leaning on the open-source Kaltura video platform to provide a customizable Flex solution. RIV created a development platform, and streamlined process, for putting together these players and relieved bieMedia of their dependence on their one-off players. Now, they can upgrade their players through an elaborate plugin system and rely on the work of open-source developers to improve the player whenever they need it!
Project:
Inventory Tracker
Having trouble with a former contractor, NetFuzion asked Rapture In Venice to re-write their Intenvtory Tracker product. This mobile product is a Motorola i355 device attacked to a Symbol UPC reader. Products are scanned in and process through a PHP backend designed to keep inventories organized. A Web portal interfaces with the data to bring inventory data to the fingertips of managers everywhere.
Project:
Dynamic GPS
The Dynamic GPS system is standards-based J2ME application that can run on any phone implementing Java ME MIDP 1 and that supports JSR-179. Constantly querying the GPS for coordinates, the software continuously calls back to home to keep interested bosses in touch with where their employees are stations, as quietly and stealthly as possible. The open standard support keeps this software running on just about any phone with GPS capability.
Project:
AMEC Laboratory
AMEC is one of themost well known engineering companies around. So, when NetFuzion needed someone to design and develop a BlackBerry solution for their UI, they once again came to Rapture In Venice. With this software, engineers out in the field can provide essential concrete and asphalt data immediately, in the palm of their hands. This quickly replaced the prior technique -- a notepad and a pencil and a hope that it's all legible later!
Project:
UNITY Mobile Handheld
VisionTEK came to Rapture In Venice with interesting needs. They needed two solutions in one for their mobile UI: both a Java ME and BlackBerry solution. Now, usually, you can just convert from Java ME to BlackBerry, but the resulting software won't use any of the UI "nicities" (e.g. trackwheel, cancel, etc.) of the BlackBerry. Rapture In Venice delivered a complete solution that saw a common code base factored out and two different UI's tacked on. The result is software that works the same on both platforms!
Project:
EADOM Bartender
EADOM contracted with Rapture In Venice to create a clone of their Flash prototype Bartender software. The previous contractor had created a disastrous piece of software, completely hardcoded, that wouldn't serve EADOM's needs for future growth. In the span of 2 weeks, Rapture In Venice did a perfect, pixel-for-pixel, conversion of the Flash software into Flex, with the additional features asked for by EADOM!
With more work coming in the future, we look forward to our continued relationship with EADOM.
Project:
Simulation Template System
SWRI is a company dedicated to training in a variety of technological fields. Included in their offerings was a Flash-based system for training on a set of individual topics. It was constructed as a single, monolithic application. What they quickly found out was that is was not scalable at all.
What Rapture In Venice did was take that software and break it out into modules that can be loaded and unloaded dynamically. Those modules can then be written by processing XML files that defined each lesson. The result was a system that was no only leaner and quicker to run and load, but one that could be developed against much more quickly, saving time and money down the road for SWRI!
And backed by a history of experience!
Rapture In Venice has plenty of other experience that we're not really allowed to credit here. However, it's hard not to toot your own horn when you have done work such as creating games for Neopets, in-wall architectures for Convergent Living, e-mail systems for InfoBeat, and a slew of other client work.
And we want to add you to the stable! Contact us today to find out what we can do.
